Job Description

Position Purpose:

The Sales Analyst is responsible with for a variety of efforts related to increasing overall sales and providing critical customer support. This involves analyzing past sales data, pricing, and market trends, and then using those analyses to produce sales and pricing forecasts and strategies.  The role will also be responsible to evaluating and assessing strategic sales and customer impacting initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Administer monthly and quarterly executive reports based on key performance indicators, including but not limited to volume forecasts, same store sales, account profitability, and sales variances.
  • Provide ongoing sales tracking and reports for major sales initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities for pricing and item mix adjustments based on sales forecasts. Audit and confirm that all pricing updates are correct in the system.
  • Assist the sales team by providing pricing and promotion recommendations to secure existing business as well as gain new business.
  • Partner with the Finance, Sales, IT, and Field Operations teams to improve current business procedures by developing process flows, policies, standing operating procedures, reports, and training materials.
  • Analyze profit and loss statements and estimate ROIs.
  • Support Sales Operations by providing sales quota reporting.
  • Assist in identifying, developing and tracking pricing across business units.
  • Enable better decisions by providing timely, accurate, and relevant data and analysis
  • Work with Customer Care to identify trends associated with customer behavior.
  • Perform regular data audits and cleanup; works closely with IT to update and maintain data structures.
  • Assume other duties and responsibilities required or assigned by management.

Ability and Skills:

  • Ability to translate complex data into insightful findings to drive decisions
  • Strong interpersonal skills and cross functional capabilities.
  • CPG and/or manufacturing and distribution industry experiences.
  • Expert proficiency in Excel with the ability to manipulate large data sets.
  • Experience with learning new reporting systems and becoming adept at manipulating them in a short period of time.
  • Attention to detail with ability to summarize data at an executive level.
  • Ability to work with IT on large and small projects.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration required.
  • Minimum 3 years experience as a financial or sales analyst

Supervisory Responsibility:

This is an individual contributor position with no direct reports.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:

Typical office environment, generally sedentary position using computers, calculators, phones, and other office equipment.  Work is conducted in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment. The ability to manage stress, build professional and collaborative relationships, and reason through complex business situations is essential. Limited travel may be required; a valid drivers license and acceptable MVR are required.
