POSITION PURPOSE:

This role is responsible for achieving customer satisfaction by managing installations, preventive maintenance, and servicing of Reddy Ice equipment installed at customers’ location(s). This includes providing strategic direction and tactical oversight for all merchandise and Ice Factory equipment.


The Director, Field Equipment Service will also oversee the design, fabrication and assembly of in-store bagging and stacking equipment.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide strategic and tactical leadership to the field equipment service team, regarding the maintenance of Reddy Ice’s approximately 70,000 ice merchandisers, 3,500 in-store ice making and bagging machines. Manage end to end process and financials for FES equipment.
  • Create and execute the overall field equipment service strategies and tactics that support Reddy Ice’s customer service, financial, and operational objectives.
  • Develop and manage a “demand-driven” process of purchasing new equipment and repairing existing equipment in accordance with customer demand/forecast.
  • Track and ensure the Merchandisers and Ice Factories are yielding the designed EBITDA per asset.
  • Collaborate with IT and other internal partners to develop and continuously improve the tools, processes and systems used by the field equipment service team. This includes parts management, handhelds and other IT systems and reporting functions, repair tools, etc.
  • Manage budget for OCS Field Equipment operations. Analyze and forecast relevant budgets and impact to P&L targets. Conduct financial analysis to understand variances, deviations, and overall performance and calculate financial metrics. Perform root-cause analysis to understand drivers of financial performance.
  • Provide the annual end-to-end capital requirements of a demand driven process in collaboration with commercial and operational teams.
  • Utilize Lean Thinking, Principles and Tools to improve employee effectiveness and utilization to assure labor budgets are met
  • Collaborate with the Commercial team with recommendations for field equipment placements and de-installations.
  • Meet with customers to improve service and grow Reddy Ice’s business. 
  • Recruit, develop and retain strong talent. Create a positive culture that makes Reddy Ice a great place to work.
  • Establish Daily, Weekly and Monthly KPI’s to assure we are on track to meet our Operational and Financial goals.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering or other technical curriculum. MBA or Master’s degree preferred. Minimum 10 years’ experience in equipment – related business.
  • Minimum of 5 years of Senior level experience managing large, multi-unit service operations.
  • Demonstrated success at influencing and communicating with all levels of an organization.
  • Demonstrated success with customers and providing excellent customer service.
  • Demonstrated success with change implementation and management.
  • Understanding and practical experience with materials management, scheduling, including familiarity of Sales, Inventory and Operations Planning (SIOP) processes

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

50% travel; on-call availability, weekend and evening work may be required. Will direct work in retail stores; driving between retail stores and plant location.  Must be able to lift 40lbs.  Ability to climb ladder and work with light duty tools.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear.  The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.  The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
