Job Description

POSITION PURPOSE:

The Overnight Router collects production data and uses routing software to plan truck loading and delivery schedules.  The Router works a scheduled period of time that will generally be 9pm and 1am.  While the Router will require some in-person training, the work can ultimately be done remotely from home.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create optimal truck routing plan for a portion of our 100 field locations using Roadnet routing optimization tool (which is auto-populated with orders each night at 9pm).
  • Use a calculator and basic rules/math to translate routed orders into a plan for the order in which pallets of ice should be loaded onto our trucks the next morning.
  • Communicate manifests, load sheets, and basic route metrics to the location’s leadership, loaders, and drivers by email.
  • Coordinate routing issues and process improvement opportunities with Routing Manager and other Routers.
  • Make and assume other duties and responsibilities required or assigned by management.
  • Must be available for a minimum of 3 shifts a week.
  • Adhering to the Code of Business ethics is essential. We value honesty and integrity above all else and expect our employees to be committed to the highest ethical standards.

CONTACTS:

Routing Manager, Field Leadership, Loaders, Drivers, Routing Team

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

None, this is an individual contributor role.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Fantastic attention to detail
  • Track record of following-through on responsibilities and driving results
  • Ability to communicate effectively over the phone and via email
  • Basic math skills
  • Computer savvy, including basic experience in Outlook, Excel, and other programs
  • Enjoys solving puzzles and complex problems (solving for optimal routing and defining the optimal load plan for each truck is effectively solving a series of little puzzles)
  • High school diploma required, some college preferred

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

This position primarily works in a typical office environment, is generally sedentary, and uses computers, calculators, phones, and other office equipment. This position has limited travel to field locations, where the employee will be required to walk and stand in manufacturing plants, including freezers. Work is conducted in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment. The ability to manage stress, build professional and collaborative relationships and reason through complex business situations is essential.
