Job Description

POSITION PURPOSE:

Responsible for all phases of processing payroll from entering tax exemptions, statutory and voluntary deductions, manual adjustments and corrections, processing regular bi-weekly payroll as well as off-cycle payments for terminating employees with special state compliances ensuring the accuracy of hours recorded and paid.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Prepare biweekly payrolls and verify that hours, wages, garnishments, deductions and adjustments are accurate.


Responsible to approve employee time upon manager request and key in corrections to the payroll as requested by the employee’s manager.


Run payroll reports, balance and audit, notify managers of issues based on payroll cycle checklist.


Process garnishment requests by promptly submitting to third party payroll service provider and maintaining copies.


Verify payroll data for reasonableness and policy compliance on a weekly basis.


Process and record pay adjustments related to changes in salary as requested.


Ensure employee pay card enrollments have been addressed in the Workday system, notifying the managers if any are outstanding.  


Provide information wage verification and work history to authorized company personnel, employees of State and federal agencies, and verification of employment to authorized entities.


Respond to HR/payroll related inquires by conducting research and communicating final resolution.


Develop and sustain collaborative and productive relationships with peers, field operations, and company management.


Generate and audit reports periodically to maintain integrity of payroll data such as pay input, missing pay elections, commission, terminations, etc.


Follow weekly Payroll Checklist outlined by Payroll Manager to ensure all critical steps are completed timely each week.


Coordinate activities across multiple HR functions as needed.


Streamline information from the field/RHRM to payroll.


Any additional functions as needed to align Payroll with upcoming/ongoing project needs.

OPERATING RESPONSIBILITIES:


Set-up and activation of Pay Cards. Entry of corrections authorized by field personnel. Explanation of Payroll policies to Area managers and employees. Maintenance, training and resolution of issues regarding Workday. Provide employee information for authorized external requests. This position can have an impact on profit from performing job efficiently and accurately, taking proactive measures to audit, educate and improve processes.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

None.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of 4 years of payroll processing experience. Strong Microsoft Word and Excel skills. Ability to adhere to tight deadlines, be detail oriented, work independently, handle highly confidential information and maintain professionalism in high stress situations. Must have experience in Workday.


WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Office job with no travel requirements or hazardous conditions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear.  The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
