POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Accountant uses generally accepted accounting principles to ensure compliance with written ledgers and trial balances, and when preparing and reviewing various accounting entries for assigned OCS departments and/or field locations. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with monthly accounting close, including journal entries and reconciliations, in accordance with U.S. GAAP.  Areas of focus include cash reconciliations, payroll and benefit accounting, and lease accounting.
  • Record daily cash for all bank activities and research discrepancies.
  • Partner with OCS & field location management to ensure accurate and complete business unit financial statements. Generate and review operating statements, compare actual results to historical trends, and investigate and explain variances.
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet account reconciliations of selected assets and liabilities for accuracy.
  • Assist with preparation of annual audit schedules.
  • Help to ensure compliance with internal controls and policies.
  • Ad-hoc reporting and analysis at the request of the Manager.
  • Assume other duties and responsibilities required or assigned by management.

OPERATING RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position has a direct and significant effect on the company financial records. Accuracy and completeness are critical to the proper classification and reporting of financial transactions.

RESPONSIBILITY FOR PROPERTY, FUNDS, AND INFORMATION:

Has access to customer and credit records, vendor records, distributor agreements, pricing information, contractual agreements, accounting and financial information, trade secrets, and extensive confidential information. May have access to company funds or assets.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

This is an individual contributor role with no direct reports

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • A 4-year bachelor’s degree in accounting is required
  • CPA designation is preferred
  • Minimum 3-4 years of overall accounting experience
  • Intermediate expertise in Excel; comfortable learning new technologies
  • Microsoft Dynamics AX experience preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Work independently with minimal supervision

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

This position works in a typical office environment, is generally sedentary, and uses computers, calculators, phones, and other office equipment. Evening and weekend work may be required. This position works in a fast-paced, rapidly changing work environment. The ability to manage stress, build professional and collaborative relationships, and reason through complex business situations is essential. A valid drivers license and acceptable MVR are required since this position requires occasional travel.
