Job Description

This position reports to the CFO and interacts with all levels of Management and the Board of Directors in developing, implementing and administering the Company’s accounting policies and strategy, and in reporting on the financial health and operations of the Company. Exceptional communication skills, innovativeness  and creativity are expected. 

This role maintains oversight of all the Company’s internal and external accounting, tax, treasury and external reporting functions. Delivers budget objectives by monitoring performance and initiating corrective actions.  Duties include the oversight of all accounting practices and operations, internal controls, internal and external financial and regulatory reporting, financial information systems, audits, tax filings, liquidity management, process improvements within the accounting and treasury teams, and the development and leadership of a strong, service-oriented team.


Reports to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and represents accounting related matters for Reddy Ice’s senior executives. 

  • Member of the Company’s Management providing accounting and financial leadership.
  • A strategic and tactical business partner and advisor to the CFO and Management.
  • Develop, implement and administer the Company’s accounting policies and fiscal strategy.
  • Develop, coordinate, and present financial results and information to the Audit Committee and Board of Directors.
  • Maintain regular dialogue with Audit Committee and the Company’s external auditors.

Delivers budget objectives by monitoring performance and initiating corrective actions.

  • Provides actionable reporting to cost centers and business units
  • Identifies exceptions and works with unit management to remediate issue.
  • Develops and implements corrective actions as needed

Manage and oversee all OCS Accounting, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Assets, Treasury, Tax, Internal Control and Financial Reporting functions. 

Accounting, Tax, & Reporting

  • Oversee and assist in the preparation of the Company’s financial statements, footnote disclosures, and MD&A in compliance with US GAAP, and any other corporate/debtholder or ownership/PE sponsor reporting, as well as all regulatory reporting and filings. 
  • Ensure compliance with all tax regulations (Federal, State, and Local), tax accounting, and tax payments.
  • Own the external audit relationship and ensures compliance with all audit requirements. 
  • Oversee the Company’s accounting policies and internal controls in public and non-public environments.  Oversee the general ledger and all entries and account reconciliations.
  • Monitor new accounting and financial reporting guidance and evaluate the potential impact to the Company.  Implement new standards as needed.

Developing a strong team focusing on people development, accountabilities, respect and driving for results. 

  • Provide leadership and business management to the accounting, tax, and treasury staff and functional leaders.
  • Develop next generation leadership
  • Instill a customer service attitude in finance staff
  • Evaluate individual & departmental performance. Make necessary personnel changes to ensure optimal productivity. 
  • Continuously develop staff by providing training, feedback and opportunity to ensure professional growth and to develop rising talent for the Company.

Drive process change to gain efficiencies in overall accounting, finance and business processes. 

  • Administer the monthly financial close and internal reporting process to incorporate best practices and efficiencies to achieve an optimum close period.
  • Ensure awareness and understanding of internal control activities to maintain sound business practices and a strong internal control environment.
  • Evaluate departmental processes to identify and implement improvements.

Involvement in strategic initiatives of the Company involving accounting matters. 

  • Participate in strategic planning and modeling with senior executive officers and provide input, analysis and recommendations.
  • Represent the accounting, tax and treasury functions in transactional due diligence supporting financing, M&A, and integration activities. 
  • Develop and direct the implementation of strategic business and/or operational plans, projects, programs, and systems in support of the Company’s goals and objectives.

Establishes and maintains a strong collaborative relationship with other department heads to ensure a timely, effective exchange of information.

  • Work closely with General Counsel, outside legal counsel, professional services firms, and all internal departments regarding internal control, accounting, tax, and treasury matters.
  • Review and provide input to significant contracts and other legal agreements.
  • Work closely with IT to develop, implement, and enhance financial systems and processes

Supports the business

  • Engages with operations to streamline reporting requirements

  • Consistently evaluates ways to streamline and drive operating efficiency

This position reports to the Chief Financial Officer.  This position directly supervises the leaders of tax, accounting, accounts receivable, accounts payable, fixed assets, treasury, and other positions as assigned.


CPA Certification (additional Finance and Accounting certifications encouraged) MBA or Masters strongly preferred. Bachelor’s degree finance, business administration, or related field with extensive experience accepted. 6+ years major accounting firm experience preferred Strong technical accounting skills Strong technology skills including expertise in MS Excel, database applications and Enterprise Resource Planning Systems (ERP) Outstanding written and oral communication skills Strong problem solving and creative skills with an ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analysis. Extensive knowledge of GAAP, external reporting requirements and internal control compliance and design in both public and non-public environments. Experience with mergers & acquisitions. Proven initiator, innovator and influencer who can drive change, improve processes, and provide sound solutions to complex and routine business issues. Superior analytical, strategic and tactical planning skills. Collaborative and accessible manager with a successful track record of developing, mentoring and motivating top performing teams.


Normal office environment with occasional hazards in plant environment.  Travel hazards; minimal travel required. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear.  


Has access to all financial information, trade secrets, distributor agreements, pricing information and extensive confidential information.  Co-signs payable checks over $50,000 and sole signer for manual checks under $50,000.
